SOP:- How the Guest room turns out to be a Virus? कैसे गेस्ट रूम को disinfectant kare? How To Prepare A Guest Room?

My Dear Friends,


As we all aware that maintaining highest level of Hygiene at area and to protect our self from corona virus is an important aspects for all of us.

Most of the hotels are going to reopened and ready to welcome guest but still the precautive measures are very important for bonding a believe system with our loyal customer.

I have tried my best to formulate a SOP for preparing Guest room during this pandemic situations and I have tried to cover all major points in this blog.

Let's start Today learning......




  • We need to trained our staff in that level that they can released room by their own or we have to tried on our motion as an Example previously staff is making room, supervisor is checking room and then executive is releasing the room. so we have to control on this motion as chances of spreading virus will be more if we keep motion.
  • Upon arrivals Guest to be requested that your room cleaning will be carried out upon your request and if possible cleaning will be carried out in absence of guest. Also a TAG line- Your Safety is our Responsibility should be displayed in Lobby, SPA, Restaurant or other places or we can make any other Tag line decided by management.
  • Every Rooms (Vacant/ arrivals/ Occupied or checkout) Should be gone under Pest and sanitizing Process for safety.


  • Housekeeping Trolley & Floor pantry should be sanitized properly especially touched points like handles, cover, Shelve once or twice in a day (as per the availability) and should be filled fresh linen as per the room operations. No cross contamination with soiled linen should be allowed. Soiled Linen should be carried out in linen carry bag From the guest room and need to tie up and stacked properly.
  • Staff Uniform: - Full Uniform, neck not exposed, proper PPE Kit should be encouraged to all the Housekeeping Staff.
  • Minimum Staff For handling Guest room Linen and used disposable Gloves while sorting the linen.
  • A.C Temperature should be between 24-30 degree or Room Humidity should be between 40-70.
  • 70 percent alcohol based hand sanitizer should be placed in all Guest cottages also if possible.
  • Disinfects solution: - Accelerated hydrogen peroxide (0.05%) or ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, Virex-256 for disinfecting Guest Room curtains, Mattress, mattress protector, topper, Pillows or other fabrics available in guest cottages.
  • Guest Room Linen, Pillows or Laundry Should be dried above 60 degree temperature.
  • Guest room should be sanitized properly corner to corner, Top to bottom with Virex -256 or any other Alkaline based chemical and every soiled linen should be striped and tied up properly and every freely moving furniture should be moved and do through sanitized.
  • Instead Of switching On News Channel Channel upon arrival if we could make a video regarding the level of sanitizing we are maintaining at our resort regarding precaution we are taking for guest safety, room cleaning, food handling, Food preparation and ask cable operator to create a channel and we will switch on that channel upon arrival for the guest information: - Just Suggestion for Guest confidence building measures.
  • Single use bathroom amenities will be encouraged.
  • Avoid keeping too much stationery in a guest cottages.
  • 3 Dustbin will be kept in each room. One for bathroom, one for Room Garbage and pedal dustbin for keeping disposable waste.
  • Turn Down service should be given only on specific request otherwise need to avoid.
  • All minibar & Minibar Items Should be sanitized with suma tab solution.
  • A.C Cleaning should be carried out once in a week.
  • If possible Guest room used glass ware and crockery should be washed in dishwasher instead of washing in Guest cottages or we can provide soap solution to wash the used cups & glasses only when guest is not available inside the room.
  • To maintain the guest room hygiene service person need to confirm for tray clearance at the time of Room service. 
  • No gathering should be allowed during briefing, at cafeteria, Guest room or in other public area.
